Route Description

What can we say - this is indeed a Queen Stage. Riders leave the start and turn right towards Numbi Gate. This is old Stage Two in reverse....up to a point. The route takes you through the Old Plaston Rd and you zig your way onto the road past the airport and on to the N4 where you turn left. About 8km further on, you turn right into the Mara Conservancy and begin the climb over Boulders. It is about a 6km steep climb but you'll be rewarded with a PPS Water Point at 40km (the top) and then a 13km descent. Fill up here as it is a long ride to the next water point.

As you exit the Conservancy, you turn left and left again onto the N4. The Gorge is beautiful and should distract you from your aching legs. You ride past the Karino turn-off and about 2km further on, you turn left into Crocodile Valley. The second water point is at 84km.

At the end of this section, you turn right and right again to return to the N4 and the Karino turn-off. The third water point is at 110km, hosted by IWC. Then it is revisiting the earlier part of the ride as you head back towards the airport, Plaston Rd and home to Casterbridge. Rest up, refuel and recover for Stage Three.
